Looking Both Ways into 2016

Last season saw us launch our new wallpaper range at Somerset House at the Dulux Colour Futures Event. The overriding theme for this year’s Dulux colour trend prediction is ‘Looking Both Ways’ – the idea of looking back to the past for inspiration which will help us with future innovation & design. The different stories which make up the colour trend & predications for 2016 are all anchored by the Colour of the year – Cherished Gold – which was identified as the colour which connects the past and present; from the gold seen in the old masters paintings to the future with elements of gold present in modern architecture, interior and fashion.

At Mockbee we felt that this was a wonderful colour and palette to work with, as it is accessible and flexible and can take your decorating scheme forward for the seasons. With new colours called Paper Mint, Lucky Penny and Salisbury Stone – we loved the idea of new combinations. Cherished Gold itself is not too bright but still offers an element of surprise. Put with mint green and duck egg blue for a relaxed look or with darker hues and midnight blue, which celebrates darkness and the night when we need to rest and recharge for our busy lives, it is certainly interesting! Taking some existing designs such as our Sea Lace and Mandala, we also used new additions Alexandria and Ahwahnee, with some printed on our best-selling metallic paper to give that extra sheen to your wall and a little more luxury!

“Cherished Gold and our dominant trend for 2016, ‘Looking Both Ways’, have certainly proven inspiring influences for the development of a stunning collection of wallpaper designs. These designs use the Colour Palette of the Year to great effect, showing the shades that subtly complement Cherished Gold and add further depth and intrigue.” Rebecca Williamson – Senior Colour Consultant at Dulux.
